A Shelby County school bus carrying 32 children left Bolton High School Monday afternoon and crossed the center line southbound on Austin Peay Highway at Pleasant Ridge. The bus struck an 18-wheeler, injuring the bus driver and 10* children, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The driver, Jacqueline McKinley, 52, was taken to Regional One Medical Center; she was wearing a seatbelt. Charges have not been filed against her, pending an investigation.
The injured children went to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
The 18-wheeler was a 2003 Freightliner carrying a Bobcat (construction equipment) and driven by Gary Bryant, 63, of Arlington. He was wearing a seatbult and his injuries didn’t require medical transportation; he was not charged in the accident.
