Sewer capacity issues could freeze area development

sewer-capacity-iconA sewer system that is near its capacity could soon force Memphis and Shelby County to freeze development for Wolfchase, most of Cordova and Bartlett, and part of Lakeland, according to news that broke on Monday.

Capacity issues with the 35-square-mile Fletcher Creek drainage basin could suspend commercial or residential developments for a long time. One 2017 study suggested it was operating at 95-98 percent capacity.

This is a developing story. A Bartlett spokesman wasn’t immediately available to put this news in context on Tuesday.
