SCSO arrests suspect in ATV theft

SCSO badgeOn Feb. 18, Sheriff’s Detectives from ALERT and the Patrol Crime Response Unit arrested a suspect near U.S. 51 in the theft of a four-wheeler.

The victim reported on Jan. 30 that a white man approached him, claiming to be out of gasoline ans asking for help.

The victim drove the man to the store, bought $6 of gas and ropped him off at his truck, parked two houses away from the victim’s house on the 6500 block of North Watkins in Memphis.

When the victim returned from running errands, his Yamaha four-wheeler all-terrain vehicle (AT)V was missing from his garage. The victim positively identified the suspect, Daryl Terry, 37, from a camera he has mounted on his garage.

The Sheriff’s Office investigation has further revealed that Terry and two other individuals, Shane Scott and John Coop, allegedly sold the four-wheeler to an unidentified person.

Terry has been charged with aggravated burglary, theft of property $1,000-$10,000, domestic assault bodily harm, and order of protection.

Coop is in custody and will be served warrants for two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of petition to revoke suspended sentence and one count of theft of property $500-1,000.
