A scam that hit St. Louis in the past is appearing in Bartlett.
Bartlett Police Lt. Todd Halford received a call last week from a Bartlett citizen targeted by scam artists. They were using a fake Craigslist ad to phish for personal information, but she didn’t fall for it.
In St. Louis, a scammer copied a rental property owner’s old ad, listed the home for rent at a great price and ripped off people eager for a bargain.
Halford cautioned, “Be careful when you are using internet sites. Do not provide your Social security number or accout numbers without verifying you are dealing with a legit business.”
