Through a grant received from the Speer Charitable Trust and support from the Red Cross and Baptist Hospital, St. Benedict at Auburndale High School has begun training the entire school (faculty, staff and student body) in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
St. Benedict is reported to be the only school in the state training each person associated with the school during the school day. Some students in health and physical education classes have already been trained, but the remainder of the students and staff will receive training in the coming weeks.
School nurse Lindsay Wilemon, R.N., is the instructor and began with training teachers from Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Germantown. Through the grant, SBA also provides training for others in the community.
