St. Benedict senior Grace Summers captured the Div II-AA State Tournament today in her 6-2, 6-3 match over Michelle Fleenor of Girls Preparatory School of Chattanooga. Summers defeated Mackenzie Phillips of Brentwood Academy, 6-2,6-0, and Emma Alsup of Harpeth Hall, 6-0, 6-3, to get to the championship match. Summers is undefeated this year, even defeating Div. AAA State Champion Kenya Jones of White Station, 8-3, early in the season. Summers is a four-time Div II-AA Region Champion, advancing to the State Tournament each year. She is also a four-time team MVP and four-time Top Five Finalist for Best of Preps Girls’ Tennis. Summers has signed to play tennis for Eastern Illinois University (Division 1, OVC).
