
Monica “Nikki” Marie Shah has been named as the 2014 valedictorian at St. Benedict at Auburndale High School. She holds the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA) in her class of 231 students and scored 34 on the ACT with a perfect 36 in English and a 35 in math. Shah was selected as a Commercial Appeal Academic All-Star for General Scholarship.
Shah is an exceptional student with multiple Honors and AP courses on her high school transcript. She is an AP Scholar with Distinction. She has achieved highest averages and excellence awards in multiple classes and is a Magna Cum Laude student on the National Latin Exam. She also was selected to attend Tennessee Governor’s School for IT Leadership and a Senator at Volunteer Girls State. Shah has often appeared in productions on the SBA stage and served as an officer for her class and the SGA. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Rho Kappa History Honor Society, Latin Honor Society and the Thespian Honor Society. She was elected president of the National Science Honor Society this year.
She has received numerous merit-based college scholarships and will attend Northeastern University in Boston with the Dean’s Scholarship.
She is the daughter of Vipul and Cynthia Shah of Cordova.

Katherine “Kate” Leigh Walsh has been named the 2014 salutatorian at Saint Benedict at Auburndale High School. She holds the second-highest cumulative grade point average (GPA) in her class of 231 and scored a 32 on the ACT with a score of 35 in English and 36 in reading. She is a National Merit Commended Student.
AP and Honors courses are in abundance on Walsh’s transcript. She has received highest GPA and Excellence Awards for many of her classes and was selected a Commercial Appeal Academic All-Star for Science. She is an officer of Mu Alpha Theta and is a member of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa History Honor Society and the National French Honor Society. She also holds memberships in several clubs and is a Student Ambassador. Walsh placed second in the French III poetry writing contest at Language Fair and was accepted to the Governor’s School for the Humanities. She received high marks in the National French exam, as well.
Walsh has been offered many merit-based college scholarships and has elected to accept the Provost’s Scholarship from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
She is the daughter of Mr. William and Dr. Janet Walsh of Arlington.
