St. Benedict at Auburndale High School announced this week that two new teachers have been hired to coach volleyball and boys’ basketball. Josh Templeton was hired as the new head basketball coach. Janet Daleke will be the new head volleyball coach. Templeton played at Chattanooga’s Tennessee Temple Academy for high school, where he was a “Mr. Basketball” finalist and a first team All-State point guard. Templeton served as an assistant at his Alma Mater, under his father from 2004-2007, and from 2007-2012 he assisted fellow PGC Director Tommy Brown at Lee University. During those five years, Lee saw an unprecedented run of success with a record of 130-36. Last year, Josh assisted Cole Rose at Boyd-Buchanan High School in Chattanooga to a 28-4 season as they made their first appearance in the TSSAA state tournament since 1995. Daleke follows in the footsteps of former SBA Coach Angie Buchanan, who recently resigned to pursue other positions. Daleke has assisted Buchanan for 11 years. Previously, she coached at Memphis Catholic and Immaculate Conception Cathedral High School. Her teams recorded 18 district or region championships, nine sub-state appearances and one state appearance.
