The Salvation Army of Memphis is now accepting donors to support children, called “angels,” who otherwise might have a very skimpy Christmas. Citizens can go online to salvationarmymemphis.org/angel-tree to select angels for adoption.
The angel tag you receive will provide you with the child’s first name, age, sex, sizes and the item(s) they would like or need. Gifts can be bought online and shipped directly to The Salvation Army Purdue Center of Hope, 696 Jackson Ave., Memphis. Include the angel tag name and number in the memo/gift section of shipping documents so the recipient is easily identified. For security reasons, do not wrap gifts.
People are asked to purchase new gifts for their angel and return the gifts to the location where they selected the angel tag, or deliver them to one of the designated drop-off locations:
- Carrefour at Kirby, 6685 Poplar Ave., Germantown
- The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center, 2649 Kirby Whitten Road, Memphis
- The Salvation Army Kroc Center, 800 Parkway South, Memphis
- The Salvation Army Purdue Center of Hope, 696 Jackson Ave., Memphis
The Salvation Army of Memphis & Mid-South is committed to alleviating the grips of generational poverty through intentional collaborations, service, and support. With this commitment in mind, the 2018 Angel Tree program will partner and align with local agencies to fulfill registrations for the Angel Tree gifts and year-round followup.
Live angel tags will be available at CarreFour at Kirby Woods in Germantown and at The Salvation Army Kroc Center, beginning Nov. 17.
