Saint Francis Healthcare to offer mammograms through midnight Oct. 25

As part of their efforts to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Saint Francis Healthcare will host “Mammos ’Til Midnight.” These events will take place at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett and at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis on Friday, Oct. 25.

Extended appointment hours will be available from 4 p.m. until midnight for women to receive their annual screening mammogram.

The relaxing environment will include wine, cheese and hors d’oeuvres. Appointments for mammograms may be scheduled online at MammosTilMidnight.com.

A physician’s referral is not required.

“There aren’t a lot of hours in the day, but it’s very important for women to make time for their annual mammogram,” said Rhonda Willcox, Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett director of radiology. “That’s why we’ve created this after hours event. It allows women to relax while providing time outside of the hustle and bustle of a typical work day to take care of their health.”

According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer during their lifetime. However, early detection through mammogram screenings, increased public awareness of breast cancer and improved treatments have helped reduce the rate of death from breast cancer in the United States. Mammogram screenings can detect breast cancer when it is smaller and more confined to the breast, allowing the cancer to be treated more easily.
