Saint Francis Healthcare has announced that it collected 41,818 servings of cereal and more than $17,000 to benefit the Mid-South Food Bank. The donation is a result of Saint Francis Healthcare’s Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive held June 3-10.
“I am so proud of all of our colleagues and physicians for an outstanding effort to tackle hunger through our Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive,” said Audrey Gregory, CEO of Saint Francis Healthcare. “We enjoy the opportunity to work with the Mid-South Food Bank to fulfill our mission of helping area residents lead happier, healthier lives.”
Estella Mayhue-Greer, CEO of Mid-South Food Bank, said, “We are appreciative of Saint Francis Healthcare and its parent company, Tenet Healthcare, for hosting the Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive. “The summer months can be difficult for some families who struggle with hunger because they are unable to rely on the schools for nutritious meals. Saint Francis Healthcare’s generous donation helps release that extra burden on these families.”
As a result of her efforts to coordinate the successful cereal drive, Rebbie Lloyd, marketing manager at Saint Francis Hospital-Memphis, was presented with Tenet Healthcare’s award as “Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.” The award goes to one person nationwide who has exhibited extraordinary volunteer service and demonstrated a passion for helping those struggling with hunger.
“Rebbie’s passion for making a difference in people’s lives is apparent to anyone that has spent time with her,” Gregory said. “A great deal of the success of “Healthy Over Hungry” can be attributed to the amount of time and effort put forth by Rebbie. We appreciate her selflessness and congratulate her on this well-deserved honor.”
