Road construction is expected to begin soon on Elmore Park from Stage Road north to Yale, City Engineer Rick McClanahan told Bartlett aldermen Tuesday evening.
The $728,835 surface transportation project will be paid with 80 percent federal funds. Lehman/Roberts of Memphis was the low bidder on the construction.
Plans call for the repaving, and replacing of curb and gutter and includes redirecting traffic flow at the Bartlett Post Office.
A driveway servicing vehicles attempting to access outside mail boxes will be moved from Elmore Park to Flowering Tree Road. The change is designed to improve flow in and out of the post office.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-November.
Plans are also on-going for a traffic signal at the intersection of Altruria and Memphis/Arlington, McClanahan said.
The engineering department is currently awaiting environmental approval and will then proceed to design. Potential right of way acquisition and final design will put implementing the proposed light about a year away.
