The Bartlett Police Department teaches Druge Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) to fifth-grade classes in Bartlett City Schools, and attendees must write an essay before graduation on what they learned in the class.
At Rivercrest Elementary School, the top three essay winners honored at the Jan. 14 DARE graduation were:

- Second place: Landen McNair
- Third place: Sydney Burnett
