At a time when more and more attention is being focused on the increasing demands of caregivers given the aging population, one area hospital is taking the initiative to ensure its team of caregivers has the right resources to manage the physical and emotional stress involved.
Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett has introduced its Compassion Fatigue Rooms. These two rooms are designed to provide a private, tranquil space for caregivers to decompress in times of need. While caring for patients and their families is a rewarding endeavor, it can also be accompanied by a myriad of mixed emotions.

The two controlled access rooms are each painted in a calming blue hue and outfitted with a premium massage chair purchased by the hospital’s volunteer auxiliary. Complemented by relaxing music and an essential oil diffuser, with bottled water and snacks available, the room provides a brief reprieve to help caregivers reset and ready themselves to continue to provide high quality service.
