Renovations to freshen look and functions of Bartlett City Hall

seal of bartlettBartlett City Hall will soon look and operate better than ever.

It was built in 1989 and needs periodic renovations to keep it up to date, according to Bartlett’s Chief Administrative Officer Mark Brown.

Target areas are the aldermen’s chambers and the lobby. Renovations will make the building safer and also make it an easier place where citizens can interact with aldermen, he said.

The city has budgeted $400,000 for the work. The timeline has not yet been finalized.

The aldermen’s chambers will receive technological and logistical improvements. The light and sound systems in the room will be updated, and screens will be added for audiences to view agenda items or presentations.

The raised platform where the aldermen sit will be altered so that the aldermen will be able to see each other better. In addition, where the staff sits, below the aldermen, will be better accommodated so that communication between the two can improve.

During the renovations, city board meetings will be held in other public forums, such as the Bartlett Municipal Center.

Brown said city leaders hope to remove the structure in the middle of the foyer for greater traffic mobility. The lobby will also get security and storage improvements.

He said other smaller projects may be tackled, such as restroom renovations.
