
Shady Grove will showcase art by Maggie Russell
Shady Grove Presbyterian Church will be hosting “Bring It To The Light,” an introspective portrait exhibit by Maggie Russell through Aug. 7.
Opening night will be 6-8 p.m. July 10 with an Artist’s Talk at 6:30 p.m. at the church. The address for the exhibit is 5530 Shady Grove Road, Memphis (on the corner of Shady Grove and Yates).

Free ham radio class offered July 9-Aug. 13
The Delta Amateur Radio Club will offer a free Ham Radio Technician License class every Thursday from July 9 through Aug. 13. An FCC exam is $15 and the manual is $45.

Lance Strode to perform July 10 at local winery
Lance Strode is well known in the Memphis music circuit, having played at local favorite locations and at Oxford on the Square in north Mississippi.
He’ll be playing at Delta Blues Winery (6585 Stewart Road, Lakeland) from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. July 10.
Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, picnic and listen to this singer/songwriter. Wine by the glass or bottle is available for purchase, and wine tasting lasts until 90 p.m. The winery does not permit outside liquor, beer or pets.
Bartlett’s free movies season to end July 10
Bartlett Station Movies in the Park has been presenting free movies approximately every two weeks this summer at at W.J. Freeman Park (2629 Barlett Boulevard, Bartlett). The season closing screening will be “How to Train your Dragon” on July 10.
Food vendors arrive at 7 p.m., and the outdoor show begins at 8 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring folding chairs, blankets, or picnic baskets, pets (on a leash), but not alcoholic beverages.
Screenings to be offered July 11 at Faith Baptist
Residents living in and around the Bartlett area can learn about their risk for cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, diabetes and other chronic, serious conditions with affordable screenings by Life Line Screening. Faith Baptist Church of Bartlett (3755 N. Germantown Road) will host this community event on July 11.

Lifeblood lists opportunities to donate blood
Lifeblood has many public blood drives planned in July for the Mid-South, including the following two opportunities next week:
- July 9: Varsity Spirit Corp., 3131 Appling Road, Bartlett. Hours: 1:30-4 p.m.
- July 14: Bartlett Recreation Center, 7700 Flaherty Place, Bartlett. Hours: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

BACC luncheon set for July 14
The Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly membership luncheon July 14 at the Colonial Country Club in Cordova. The event begins with networking at 11:30 a.m., a lunch at noon, and a “State of Bartlett Schools” address by school district chairman Jeff Norris and district superintendent David Stephens.
