Panthers use late surge to pull away from FCA

The Bartlett boys’ basketball team turned on the afterburners when they needed to Monday night at home to pull away from a pesky FCA team and earn a 70-52 win.

The Nighthawks kept the game close for the first half of the contest. However, the Panthers outscored FCA 39-23 in the second half thanks in part to a 13-point effort from Eric McGill, who led all Panthers in scoring.

A.J. Jones nearly matched McGill, scoring 12 points of his own.

With neither team gaining much momentum in the first quarter (the game was tied at 15), the Panthers took a slight two-point lead into halftime.

Then Bartlett really got going. The Panthers outscored FCA by five points in the third quarter before using a 25-point offensive barrage in the fourth to run away with the game.

The game was Bartlett’s first of the season. The Panthers will travel to Houston Friday night.
