Two men have been convicted for their roles in the shooting death of a 55-year-old woman who was killed the Cordova driveway of a friend in 2015, Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich said Monday.
Anthony Olivo, 40, was convicted of first-degree murder as the triggerman, and his accomplice, Andre Bowen, 42, was convicted of facilitation to commit first-degree murder in the death of Susan McDonald of Germantown.
Both defendants also were convicted of attempted especially aggravated robbery and of being convicted felons in possession of a handgun.
Criminal Court Judge Lee Coffee will sentence them on March 8.
The shooting occurred around 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 1, 2015, in the 8400 block of Bazemore, where McDonald had stopped to pick up a friend. They had planned to volunteer at a race that morning in Overton Park.
Olivo and Bowen were developed as suspects and were arrested about two weeks later.
The case was handled by Alanda Dwyer, chief prosecutor of the DA’s Special Prosecution Unit (SPU) in Criminal Court Division 7 and by Assistant District Attorney Kevin McAlpin, also of the SPU, which seeks maximum sentencing for repeat violent offenders.
