Obituary: Howell Edward Taylor

Howell Edward Taylor, 94, of Bartlett, passed away peacefully Aug. 15, 2018, at Shelby Gardens Place after a lengthy illness. A graveside service was held on Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at 3 p.m., at Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, TN 38133.

Mr. Taylor was born and raised in Henderson, Tenn. He was an avid bird hunter all of his life and enjoyed going any chance that he could with family and friends. Howell was given the nickname “Skeeter,” which stuck with him throughout his life. He was an architect and owned his own business until he retired.

Howell is survived by six nieces: his caretakers, Jeannine (Carl) Mize, Lisa Smith (Ronnie Howard), Theresa (Larry) Wade, Nancy Hill, Betty Bayes and Brenda Corey; three nephews: Mike Owen, Philip (Lorrie) Butler and Jimmy (Ginny) Chumley; 17 great-nieces and great-nephews and numerous great-great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David H. and Nannie Jones Taylor; his wife, Dorothy Young Taylor; one brother, James Taylor; five sisters, Mary Chandler, Frances Chumley, Robbie Hill, Sue Butler and Joyce Owen; and two nephews, Tom Taylor and Tim Chumley.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice. Graveside services were entrusted to Family Funeral Care.
