NYO seeks student musicians for summer program

NYO2-logoShelby County students are invited to apply to a new program affiliated with the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA).

Nominations are required, and they must be submitted by Dec. 1.

In the summer of 2016, Carnegie Hall’s Weill Music Institute will launch NYO2, a two-week, intensive summer training program from June 18 through July 4, for outstanding young American instrumentalists ages 14–17 from communities that are underserved by and/or underrepresented in the classical orchestral field.

Invited musicians will have the opportunity to play alongside exceptionally talented peers, learn from and perform in concert with members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, and participate at no cost.

A student must be nominated by a teacher, ensemble director, school/band/ orchestra administrator, or community leader. Once nominated, students can then send their application online.
