Norman Terry Swain, age 65, resident of Hornsby, former resident of Bartlett, United States Army Reserves veteran and husband of Sandra Jones Swain, departed this life Saturday evening, Dec. 6, 2014, at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.
Services of remembrance for Mr. Swain were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Matt Emerson, pastor of the Hornsby Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with military honors followed in the Reid Cemetery at Eads. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Swain was born January 2, 1949, in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Abner Swain and Fay Seward Swain. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Bartlett High School. He was married to the former Sandra Jones, who survives.
Mr. Swain was employed as a lineman for the Shelby Electric Company for over 40 years before his retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Swain were residents of Bartlett before he retired, and they moved to their farm in Hornsby three years ago. He enjoyed traveling and farming.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Swain is survived by two daughters, Cheri Swain Hagen (Stephen) of Somerville, Terri Lee Swain Hardison (Chad) of Henderson; his brother, Charles Richard Swain (Pat) of Heber Springs, Ark.; his aunt, Helen Ruth Swain of Bartlett; and four grandchildren, Alexis Hagen, Bailey Hardison, Piper Hardison and Case Hardison.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Chad Hardison, Steve Hagen, Willie Richaredson, Tommy Hardison, Matt Segerson and Eddie Webb.
Honorary casketbearers included Case Hardison.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hornsby Baptist Church, 115 Fulghum Street, Hornsby, TN 38044.
