Nominations open for Music Educator Award through March 31

Music Educator AwardKnow a great music teacher? Nominations are now online for the Music Educator Award, presented by the Recording Academy and the Grammy Foundation.

Complete the nomination online by March 31. The award is open to current U.S. music teachers in public or private schools, teaching at any level from kindergarten through college.

The award comes with a $10,000 honorarium, and nine other finalists will each win a $1,000 honorarium. The schools of all 10 finalists also receive matching grants.

Anyone can submit a nomination — students, parents, friends, colleagues, community members, school deans, and administrators. Teachers are also able to nominate themselves. Nominated teachers will be notified and invited to fill out an application.

For the award’s first presentation last year, there were more than 30,000 initial nominees, and the winner was announced on the 55th annual Grammy Awards.

The award was established to recognize current educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools.

The honorariums and grants are made possible by the support of the Grammy Foundation’s Education Champions Box Tops For Education, Converse, Disney Performing Arts, Ford Motor Company Fund, Journeys, Microsoft Surface, and Universal Music Group.
