New Neighbors group selects board members

The New Neighbors organization has selected new board members. The organization has also announced the success of its spring auction that raised $5,289 and included a wine pull, a tag sale, a silent auction and a live auction. Fifty-two members donated items to the auction including a bottle of Dom Perignon and a painting by Cecilia Lin. Twenty-two activity groups donated money, and more than twenty-five local businesses donated gift cards for products or services. The auction was planned by the Ways and Means Committee led at the time by Nancy Turchick. To date in 2017, New Neighbors has raised a total of $11,427 for its six local charities. Their next fundraiser will be at the 46th Annual Germantown Festival Sept. 9-10; look for them at the Apple Dumpling Booth. Founded in 1972, New Neighbors is a nonprofit organization of “neighbors meeting neighbors through social activities and community service.” Members are from the greater Memphis, Tenn., metropolitan area, including Germantown, Collierville, Memphis and other locations. Social activities may include sports, reading, games, movies and more, and they serve their communities in volunteering and fundraising.
