Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council

On March 11 and 12, the Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council of Bartlett traveled to Nashville to learn more about state government. They visited with Secretary of State Tre Hargett (pictured above) and Rep. Tom Leatherwood (pictured below) and also visited the Hermitage, home of Andrew Jackson and the Tennessee Museum.

This program is designed to help students learn more about Bartlett and grow in leadership skills. They meet with the mayor and board of aldermen, visit the police and fire departments, visit several Bartlett industries and have sessions with Bartlett business leaders. Graduation for this year’s class will be on April 12.

Applications for the 2019-2020 class will be available at the guidance counselor’s offices at the Ninth Grade Academy and Bartlett High School, and on line at the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce. Any students who live in Bartlett city limits and will be in grades 9-12 during the next school year (regardless of what school they attend or if they are homeschooled) are invited to apply. There will be an informational meeting on May 6 in the meeting room at the Bartlett Library at 6:30 p.m. for all interested students and parents. Interested students may bring completed applications or pick up applications there.
