LSS updates its policies, preps legislative agenda

New-LSS-logo-web-smallThe Lakeland School System’s board passed new a new policy about preventing and treating sports-related concussions, updated the operating budget and conducted other business at its Sept. 8 meeting.

In other action board members updated policies on discipline procedures, child abuse and neglect, and homeless students. They also approved an emergency preparedness plan and the September FY16-17 budget amendments.

The board brainstormed items to go into their preliminary legislative agenda. The final agenda will be presented at a later board meeting.

The board also reviewed the evaluation process used for the superintendent and the school board. The actual evaluations have not yet taken place.

Two agenda items were not yet passed. The policy on emergency and legal leave was carried over because it needed further review by the board’s legal counsel, and it was only the first reading of a new policy on credit recovery.
