Look for this weekend’s Mid South Military History & Civil War Show

This month military history collectors, enthusiasts, dealers, educators and history buffs from across the country will be in Memphis as the South’s oldest and grandest military history show comes to town. Now in its 52nd edition, The 2019 Mid South Military History and Civil War Show will be Saturday and Sunday, March 30-31, at the Agricenter ShowPlace Arena on Germantown Road in Memphis.

This year’s event will showcase all of America’s military history from the American Revolution, The Civil War, World War I, World War II and Vietnam to current conflicts. There will be historians, authors, re-enactors, military people, civic organizations, vehicle collectors, relic dealers, diggers, vendors, hobbyists and history buffs there to buy, sell and trade their collections. They will also tell many of the stories behind them.

This year’s show will welcome the return of The Swain Wealth Partners “Speaker Series.” Some of the country’s best military historians, speakers and authors will give hourly speeches on all aspects of military history. The series will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. Visit midsouthmilitaryhistory.com for times and speaker information.

Opening ceremonies will be at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday with honor and color guards from different branches of the military and different periods of history presenting their colors. There will also be re-enactors from World War I, World War II and the Civil War camping outside the arena, as well as cannon fire to get the day started. Cannon fire will continue every hour throughout the show to pay tribute and to honor fallen heroes.

Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for veterans and free for children 12 and younger.
