Lifeblood and the Bartlett, Arlington and Lakeland Donor Council recognized its 2013 group and individual volunteers at a holiday reception on Dec. 12.

Olympus Surgical Technologies’ employee Susan McCullough was named Volunteer of the Year for her exceptional work organizing four blood drives in 2013. Youth Villages received the Group Achievement Award for employers and Faith Baptist Church was recognized as the year’s best faith-based group.

In addition, Lifeblood awarded 11 groups with a 100 Club plaque for their ongoing dedication to the local blood supply by donating 100 or more units of blood per year for five or more years.

Plaques were received by City of Bartlett, Faith Baptist Church, MLGW-Bartlett, Bolton High School, Bartlett Baptist Church, Sycamore View Church of Christ, Brother International, St. Ann Catholic Church, Bartlett High School, New Hope Christian Church and Arlington High School.

Bartlett, Arlington and Bolton High Schools were recognized as having donated more than 500 units of blood in 2013.

The awards were presented by Lifeblood Donor Council chairwomen Jane Garrett, Lifeblood CEO Susan Berry-Buckley, and Bartlett Mayor Keith McDonald.

“Supporting the local blood supply is a cause that is very close to the hearts of our volunteers,” said Lifeblood CEO Susan Berry-Buckley. “We have an exceptional group of blood drive coordinators and donors in the Bartlett, Arlington and Lakeland area that work tirelessly to make sure local patients have the blood when they need it.”

Lifeblood is the Memphis region’s only non-profit volunteer blood center, and it supplies more than 100,000 units for local patient transfusions each year. For more information go to www.lifeblood.org or call (888) LIFEBLOOD.
