MEMPHIS — The Memphis Public Library and Information Center (MLIC) will launch its new and expanded Summer Reading program, “Explore Memphis,” on June 2. Customers of all ages can participate.
Explore Memphis will operate June 2-July 25 at all Memphis Public Library locations. The program will offer customers a chance to explore their interests while exploring the Bluff City with free trips to several local attractions. Customers can choose from a few areas of exploration centered on this year’s theme of, “Fizz, Boom, READ!” and the acronym “STEAM,” which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

Explore Memphis is being presented by the Memphis Public Library & Information Center in partnership with the City of Memphis, The Urban Child Institute, Memphis Library Foundation, Friends of the Library, Literacy Mid-South, Theatre Memphis, Stax Museum, Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis Zoo, Malco Theatres, Dixon Art Gallery, Incredible Pizza, Belz Museum of Asian & Judaic Art, Pink Palace Museum, Lichterman Nature Center, Magevney House, and Justine Magazine
With 18 library locations throughout the Greater Memphis area, MPLIC offers an array of programs, services and resources for citizens and visitors to enjoy. They include JobLINC mobile career services, LINC/2-1-1 telephone referral services, a TV and radio station (WYPL TV-18, WYPL FM 89.3), a small business center, laptops for checkout and free Wi-Fi access, in addition to books, e-books, DVDs, records, compact discs and educational programs for children, teens and adults.
