Dear Editor,
Next week, the Senate Judiciary Committee is conducting a public hearing to pave the way for an outright abortion ban in the 2020 spring legislative session. We have got to show up and show out!
We have spent weeks preparing for this hearing and have been in regular communication with legislative staff. We just learned that Senate Judiciary Chairman Mike Bell has stymied our efforts to submit all of our speakers. He accepted our legal and medical professionals to testify, but is forbidding anyone who has had an abortion from speaking.
People who have had abortions are the experts who need to be heard as the Senate Judiciary considers outlawing abortion. Join us to demonstrate our powerful presence, combat abortion stigma, and center the voices of experience in the public eye.
RSVP at bit.ly/6-Week-Ban-Hearing for the Six Week Ban Public Hearing on Aug. 12-13.
These hearings are the most important days of action this whole summer. We’ve heard that there will be a strong presence by those who support this dangerous bill. It is imperative that we show our elected officials that Tennesseans do not support a ban on abortion. We urge you to attend both days if you can. Free bus transportation is provided from Memphis and Knoxville.
With your presence, we will make our voices heard.
Stronger together,
Francie Hunt
