Lakeland children and their parents are keeping a city tradition alive with the 18th annual Children’s Independence Day Parade this July 4.
All Lakeland children and their parents are invited to decorate a bicycle, wagon or their favorite float to participate in the event. Participants should gather at 9:30 a.m. July 4 in front of 9677 Cutter Lane, and the parade will start at 10 a.m. Scott’s Nursery owner Scott Munchow will have his tractor pulling the big red wagon that sits in front of his business on U.S. 70, and he encourages riders.
The route proceeds through Windward Slopes along Cutter Lane, turns right onto Leeward Slopes, makes a left on Lighthouse Lane to Windward Slope, and continues on to Trustmark Bank, where refreshments will be served to all.
Parade sponsors this year are once again Trustmark Bank, Cotton Cabin Fireworks City, Scott’s Nursery, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and Windward Slopes.
