Lakeland’s new grocery store: still unconfirmed
Lakeland’s keeping mum about its upcoming high-end grocery store that will occupy most of the former Kroger retail space in early 2015.
Last week, the Memphis Business Journal cited anonymous sources who say it will be Sprouts Farmers Market leasing that space, but no official sources have confirmed that yet. [Editor’s note: See updated MBJ story here.]
The company’s public relations director declined to comment on Friday. An Aug. 19 press release at sprouts.com listed other upcoming new locations but not one in Lakeland. Lakeland city officials either did not return calls by press time or also refused to identify the store.
We can’t wait to hear for sure. Who’s ready for a new big grocery store in Lakeland?
