MLGW invites citizens’questions, discussions on smart meters

mlgw-small-logoIn a Bartlett social media forum, a spokesman for MLGW has offered help in the ongoing discussion about the pros and cons of smart meters.

Senior Communications Specialist Richard Thompson said his office is open to attending homeowner association meetings or gatherings on this topic. Contact him at rthompson@mlgw.org or (901) 901-528-4557, and see more online at mlgw.com/smart-grid.

Smart meters have two-way communication between the meter and the utility. For MLGW, this means automatic daily meter readings, reporting of power outages and tamper alerts as they occur, notification to MLGW of water leaks, and the ability to connect and disconnect electric service remotely.
