Telethon to aid tornado victims

A telethon will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday to support the CREATE Foundation’s Northeast Mississippi Tornado Relief Fund.

AHS junior wins national poetry recitation honors

Poetry Out LoudCongratulations to Arlington High School junior Anita Norman, who is this year’s National Poetry Out Loud champion.

She defeated about 365,000 competitors to win the recitation competition, earning a $20,000 award for herself and $500 for the AHS library to buy poetry books. Read more details and listen to one of Norman’s recitations online.

‘Running of the Rams’ 5K slated

A 5K race, the Running of the Rams, is planned for 6 p.m. May 16 at Oak Elementary School, 3573 Oak Road, Bartlett. Registration is now $20 for children under age 17 and $25 for adults. Post-race activities include food and live music.
