MATA releases details of service routes for Jan. 1-2
In observance of New Year’s Day,the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) will operate abbreviated service on Jan. 1-2, and administrative offices and transit center customer service counters will be closed.
A fixed-route bus service will operate on a Sunday schedule on Jan. 1-2. MATAplus service and the MATA rubber-tired trolley buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on those days. Trolley buses will not operate on Madison Avenue, but fixed route service is available at Madison and Cleveland on Route 2 and 42. For more information, visit matatransit.com.
Take lessons on ‘50 Shades of Green’ for Bartlett curb appeal
Hosted by the Bartlett City Beautiful Commission, the six-part series “Bartlett Gardening University” will be open to the public to help residents give their homes fresh curb appeal. All presentations will be provided by master gardeners and held at the Bartlett Library at 2:30 p.m. on consecutive Saturdays beginning Jan. 7.
Recycling Christmas trees can help Botanic Gardens
Those who had live Christmas trees this year have the option to help Memphis Botanic Garden and also recycle to support “green” living. People can take their trees to The Yard (a mulch yard) at 1735 Thomas just off of Covington Pike and Pleasant View weekdays 7 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturdays 7 a.m.-2 p.m. (closed on New Year’s Day). Be sure to mention Memphis Botanic Garden when you drop it off, and they will donate $5 to the Memphis Botanic Garden and recycle your tree into mulch.
