The level of mismanagement alleged at Galilee Memorial Gardens will be getting close scrutiny in coming days. While owner Jemar Lambert remains jailed without bond as he faces criminal charges for the cemetery’s operations, the facility will be under the oversight of local lawyer David Kustoff and an investigation will continue.
The order that appointed Kustoff as deputy receiver for Galilee also authorized Commerce & Insurance Commissioner Julie Mix Peak to employ experts to investigate the cemetery’s problems. The cost will be paid out of the cemetery’s funds/assets.
Lambert owns 33 percent of the cemetery’s stock; the remainder is owned equally by Marje and Mary Lambert, also of Shelby County.
