Bartlett will celebrate the upcoming July 4 holiday with its 2015 Star Spangled Fireworks Extravaganza on July 2.
Citizens are invited to gather at the Bobby K. Flaherty Municipal Center, 3663 Appling Road, 6:30-9:30 p.m. All activities will take place on the lawn of the Bartlett Performing Arts and Conference Center (BPACC) and Appling Middle School.
The evening will start with music by the Bartlett Community Concert Band at 6:30 p.m., followed by Jamie Baker & the VIPs at 8:15 p.m. Concessions and activities will be available for all ages, including a car display, children’s games and face painting. When the sun goes down, a fireworks show will light up the night sky.
There will be one street closing for the July 2 celebrations: Appling Road between Southern Way and Flaherty Place will start closing to traffic at 5 p.m. Make plans to use Germantown Road to connect from U.S. 64 (Stage Road) to U.S. 70 (Summer Avenue.
The Bartlett Police Department also released these frequently asked questions (FAQs) about the event:
- Is there a rain date? Not at this time, the fireworks can shoot in the rain, but not in unsafe weather conditions, some of the activities and music might not be available if it is raining. If unsafe weather conditions are in the area we will update any changes on all our social media outlets.
- Are dogs allowed? We highly recommend that you leave your dogs at home, but if they do join you, you will need to have them on a leash and pick up after them.
- Are coolers allowed? Yes, but remember no alcohol is allowed at City of Bartlett events. There will be a variety of concession vendors at the event.
- Can I set up a tent? We wish that you wouldn’t because of the limited amount of space with the number of people there.
- Can my group or organization sell or solicited information? NO. No outside vendors are allowed at this event, we have the Bartlett Festival in the fall for outside vendors. Our employees and the American Legion will be wearing vendor badges. If you want to hand out information, we can’t stop you from walking the crowd and doing that, but keep in mind that a lot of those materials go in the trash. The best way to get your message out is wear a shirt with your name on it. More people will probably read your shirt than any materials you have given them.
