Learning the high number of volunteers needed for the upcoming fall VESTA Home Show was a jaw-dropping experience for the Fayette Cares executive director Alexandra Wardlaw.
When the West Tennessee Home Builders Association invited Fayette Cares to be their charity partner for the fall 2014 VESTA Home Show in Piperton, Fayette Cares found the opportunity was both exciting and daunting.
As a charity partner, Fayette Cares will receive a portion of every paid ticket, potentially receiving a donation in excess of $10,000. Given the costs of a recent emergency shelter expansion, the donation will be opportune.
Now comes the challenge. Fayette Cares will need to recruit 20+ volunteers per day for a three week period. Dozens of volunteers have begun signing up. There are 3.5-hour shifts available morning, afternoon and early evening on Tuesdays through Sundays for Oct. 4-26, there are many opportunities to easily get involved.
VESTA Home Show volunteers will play a behind-the-scenes role at Shaw’s Creek in Piperton. Volunteers will manage ticket sales, assist with parking and set up, and more.
Fayette Cares’ supporters include First Alliance Bank, which stepped up to lead VESTA volunteer coordination, helping to assure that Fayette Cares can feed, clothe, and shelter more homeless families.
