Superintendents say that Bartlett, Arlington and Lakeland school districts are still reviewing and processing information garnered from early enrollment events last week. The events are expected to give the new municipal school districts a closer estimate on the number of children that will attend each school.
Arlington Community Schools has released numbers from preregistration forms from February as well as enrollment night numbers from March 18 and 20. A total of 257 non-resident applications have been received, and the district’s enrollment is at 3,568 as of March 24 (not including shared-residency students).
- Donelson Elementary was projected to enroll 583, and 588 (101% of projection) were pre-registered as of February (including current students who will be non-residents in 2014-15). The number was 476 (82% of projection) from last week’s Enrollment Nights, showing only the children in the new attendance zones. As of March 24, the school had received 47 non-resident applications.
- Arlington Elementary was projected to enroll 893, and 818 (92%) were pre-registered as of February (including current students who will be non-residents in 2014-15). The number was 719 (81%) from last week’s Enrollment Nights. As of March 24, the school had received 22 non-resident applications.
- Arlington Middle School was projected to have 1,023 students, and 1,158 (113%) were pre-registered as of February (including current students who will be non-residents in 2014-15). The number was 949 (93%) from last week’s Enrollment Nights. As of March 24, the school had received 37 non-resident applications.
- Arlington High School was projected to enroll 1,872 students (1,597 Arlington/Lakeland only projection), and 1,641 (88%) were pre-registered as of February. The number was 1,167 (62% of projection) (73% of Arlington/Lakeland-only projection) from last week’s Enrollment Nights. As of March 24, the high school had received 151 non-resident applications. For AHS, it should be noted that projections included assumptions that all of 11th- and 12th-graders and half of 10th-graders who are no loner zoned for this school would apply for non-resident status.
Definition:“Shared residency” refers to scenarios in which parents and children live with another family (and thus cannot provide the usual proof of residency requirements for acceptance into public schools).
