Drumming by the lake Powerful young drummers kept the rhythm going for guests enjoying Friday’s free “Music by the Lake” concert in Bartlett. The event featured three groups: Elmo & the Shades, playing the blues; Landon Lane & The Ivories, performing 1950s rock ’n’ roll; and the Youth Villages Timbe Drummers. ABOVE: West African-style therapeutic drumming lets teens from Youth Villages improve hand-eye coordination, master a musical skill, work cooperatively as a group, have a safe outlet to vent feelings of frustration and anger, and feel rejuvenated by the energy of the music they make.
