Doris Jean Plunk

Doris Jean Plunk, 77, of Memphis, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Saint Francis Hospital with her family by her side after a long illness.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1936, in Covington, Tenn.

Doris loved watching the University of Memphis Tigers basketball and Westerns, and mostly she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Carl Ray Plunk; son, Allen Plunk (Mary) of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughter, Allison Plunk Clark (Kevin) of Arlington; sisters, Ann Coyle, Florence Whaley and Velma Sullivan (Sully); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Otis Dawson. She was preceded in death by her brothers, John and Paul Dawson.

There was a gathering for friends and family on Monday, March 7, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kevin and Allison Clark’s home, 5458 Scarlet Fields Dr., Arlington, Tenn. The graveside service was on Tuesday, March 18, at 10 a.m. at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 N. Germantown Road.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
