Two large donors made the start of school just a little more special for the new Bartlett City Schools District.
The Kiwanis Club of Bartlett has donated $3,300 to the Bartlett Education Foundation for use at the Bartlett City Schools. Each school will receive $300.
Jan Jones, president of Kiwanis Club of Bartlett, said, “Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the community and the world, one child at a time. We felt this was a perfect way to show support to the children of the Bartlett community. A quality education empowers a person and shows no limits as to future success. We were honored to support the Bartlett Education Foundation.”
Jason Sykes, Bartlett Education Foundation president, said, “We are honored by the renewed partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Bartlett and greatly appreciate their donation. Their mission to help the youth in our community is made stronger by their eager support. Their donation is the first of this school year, so I am happy for them to be recognized and play such a positive role in our Bartlett City Schools.”
Another donor was Fred’s Pharmacy in Bartlett, giving basic medical and hygiene products to the Bartlett Education Foundation on Aug. 1 for distribution to Bartlett City Schools locations. The products are being divided among the 11 Bartlett schools.
Dr. Amy Woody, regional healthcare district manager for Fred’s Pharmacy, said, “Since 2006, Fred’s has raised over $4.9 million for Children’s Miracle Network, Le Bonheur Children’s Research Hospital, The American Cancer Society, the United Way, and numerous other charities that make a difference in our community. We like to think we have a positive influence on the lives of the communities we share with them. Our neighbors mean a lot to us and without their support and us working together, it wouldn’t be possible. Thank you, Bartlett Education Foundation for the opportunity to be in on the beginning of this very important process.”
