Doll display at Bartlett History Museum

The Bartlett Historical Society is celebrating Black History Month with a display of black dolls from around the world at the BartlettMuseum, 2969 Court Street.

The dolls are from the collection of Mary Jane Gullett of Bartlett and include dolls, figurines and pictures from her travels throughout the world. Her dolls are from Africa, the Panama Canal Zone, Australia (aborigine), St. Lucia and the U.S. The Norfolk, VA and K’s collections show the many talents of black artists.

These are only a part of Mary Jane’s extensive doll collection and her heart’s desire is to share her dolls with others and help them appreciate dolls. The Museum will be open on Sundays, February 3 & 17, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Group tours can be arranged by calling 373-8433. Admission is free, and donations will be accepted for upkeep of the Museum.
