The Shelby County District Attorney General’s website has posted voluminous records regarding the shooting death of Darrius Stewart by Memphis Police Officer Connor Schilling after a July 17 traffic stop.
The AG’s office recommended an indictment of voluntary manslaughter and employment of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, but a Shelby County Grand Jury declined to indict.
The Darrius Stewart report has beeng released by an order of the Shelby County Chancery Court that granted a petition filed by the AG’s office to make it available as a matter of public interest.
The documentation includes Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) investigative reports, police reports and supplements, witness interviews, the medical examiner’s report, forensic results, photographs and cell phone videos.
The full TBI report is approximately 800 pages long. The volume of the report has been pared down to eliminate many pages of duplication included in the original.
Also, redactions have been made to protect the privacy of lay witnesses and identifying personal information, including Social Security and telephone numbers, dates of birth and addresses. Autopsy photographs are not included.
