A man who already was in custody for an Arlington robbery has been charged with a string of thefts in Arlington and Bartlett.
Bobby ‘Trey’ Yates, 23, who is in custody in Shelby County for a burglary on the 12100 block of Shady Tree Lane, has admitted to several other burglaries in the Arlington area, the office said late Thursday.
Yates gave a taped statement to Sheriff’s detectives confessing to taking various amounts of jewelry from at least three other residences in the Arlington area and for selling them to pawn and collectible shops. Items were also recovered from a burglary in Bartlett, said the office. Detectives have recovered several pieces of jewelry and are attempting to identify the victims’ property.
The sheriff’s office said Bobby Yates was charged with three counts of aggravated burglary and one count each of theft of property between $1,000-$10,000 and theft of property between $10,000-$60,000.
