Universities and colleges have released the following information about local students’ achievements.
Academic honors
Morgan White of Lakeland has been named to the spring 2017 president’s honor roll at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Okla. To be eligible, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours during a semester and maintain a GPA of 3.9 or higher.
Kathryn R. Paine of Bartlett has been named to the spring 2017 dean’s list at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin, Mo. To be eligible, students from Missouri Southern must earn a grade point average of 3.75 or above on a 4.0 scale while enrolled in 12 or more hours of credit courses.
Hailey Ann Guzzo of Bartlett has been named to the spring 2017 dean’s list at South Dakota State University in Brookings, S.D., with a perfect 4.0 GPA. To earn dean’s list distinctions in Sdsu’s colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Guzzo is studying in the College of Education & Human Sciences.
Caleb M. Cranford of Bartlett has been named to the spring 2017 dean’s academic honor roll at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. Cranford is enrolled in the School of Engineering and computer science. Eligible students must be undergraduates with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
Bailey Clover James of Bartlett has been named to the spring 2017 president’s list at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville, Ky. James is a senior there. Eligible students must achieve a grade point average of 4.0 for the semester with a course load of at least 12 hours.
William John Nesbit of Bartlett has been named to the fall 2016 and spring 2017 dean’s lists at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn. Eligible students are full-time and have a grade point average of at least a 3.6 in all coursework with no grade below a “C.” Nesbit, a 2015 graduate of Bartlett High School, is majoring in engineering.
Graduations
Dyersburg State Community College graduated the following local students during its 47th commencement ceremony on May 6: David H. Mooneyhan and Robert Justin Price, both of Bartlett; and Erica L. Holley, Michelle Ann Hulbert and William Clayton Wiltshire, all of Arlington.
The University of Southern Mississippi held spring commencement exercises May 13 and 14 on its Hattiesburg campus and the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, respectively. Local graduates included Aleayah Ashanti Allen of Bartlett, who received a bachelor of science degree.
