College graduate

Colleges and universities have released the following news about area students.

Academic honors

Kaylie Amelia McGinley of Arlington has been named to the spring 2017 dean’s list at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Miss. Dean’s list scholars are those with at least a 3.5 grade point average, but less than a 4.0.

Arkansas State University has named the following local students to the spring 2017 chancellor’s and dean’s lists. Chancellor’s list students include Brooklyn Hinson of Arlington and Dylan McDaniel of Lakeland. Dean’s list students include Kenzie Fields of Bartlett and Abigail Butler, Christopher Foy and Lawson Wherry, all of Lakeland. The two lists recognize undergraduate students who achieved the highest grade point averages while enrolled in 12 or more credit hours of study. Chancellor’s list students must have earned a grade point average of 3.80 to 4.0. Dean’s list students must have earned a grade point average of 3.6 to 3.79.

Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., has named the following local students to the spring 2017 president’s list: Jodie Webb of Arlington; Cody Smith of Bartlett; and Rachel Russom of Lakeland. To be named to the president’s list, a student must compile a 4.0 grade point average and be classified as a full-time student with a minimum of 12 academic hours.

Beineon C. O’Corcrain and Ryan K. Hunt, both of Bartlett, have been named to the spring 2017 honor roll at Rhodes College in Memphis. Eligible students must be enrolled in at least 16 credit hours of academic work and must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better.

Graduations

Park University’s campus at the Millington Navy base (Naval Support Activity Mid-South) has announced the graduation of the following local students at the June 2 commencement ceremony at the Pat Thompson Recreation Center on the base: Aleasha E. Gatewood of Bartlett, associate of science degree in management; Rina K. Infante of Bartlett, associate of science degree in criminal justice administration; Amita Shantala Jenkins of Lakeland, associate of science degree in management; Phillip R. Logan of Arlington, associate of science degree in management, Arlington; Thomas W. Nichols Jr. of Lakeland, bachelor of science degree in management; George E. Saxton of Arlington, associate of science degree in criminal justice administration; Brian Dale Swatsenbarg of Arlington, bachelor of science degree in criminal justice administration/law enforcement, cum laude; Lennie D. Tate of Bartlett, bachelor of science degree in management/finance; Lita M. Tatum of Bartlett, master of business administration degree with a concentration in business administration; Wanda F. Wright of Bartlett, bachelor of science degree in management/human resources, magna cum laude.

The following area students graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Ark., during the 2017 spring commencement ceremony on May 13 in the Convocation Center: Bryan Scott Finley of Arlington, specialist in education degree with a major in educational leadership; Brooklyn Marie Hinson, bachelor of science in education degree with a major in mid-level education, with honors including the Honors Program; LaVonté Danielle Thompson of Arlington, master of science in nursing with a major as a family nurse practitioner; and Stacy Morris Screws of Lakeland, doctorate of nursing practice with a major in nursing practice.
