Hair Savvy is a perennial winner in the Readers’ Choice awards, and the popular local salon has captured titles for 2016. Hair Savvy won honors as Business of the Year and Best Hair Salon, and one of their stylists, Kim Nowlins, won as Best Hair Stylist.
“We’re a comfortable little shop,” said owner Debra “Debbie” Moore. “We try to make people feel welcome when they come in.”
They serve everyone from ladies with walkers to 20-somethings with purple mohawks, and that flexibility has kept the business thriving. Hair Savvy has been in business since July 2005.
Moore said she employs 10 people and said her stylists are versatile and can do “just about anything to do with hair.”
She attributes her salon’s success to good prices and the staff’s friendliness and expertise. Moore doesn’t see a lot of personnel turnover, and the salon has cultivated a close family atmosphere.
“People come in and say they’re comfortable here,” she said. “We try to treat people nice, and we try to make them look better.”
She said Hair Savvy is known for its expertise in hair coloring, and one of this year’s hottest hair trends is the use of bright colors, particularly teal. For men, the trend is toward more tapered cuts for a neater, more professional look.
