EADS, Tenn. – Briarcrest Christian School has unveiled its newest addition, a state-of-the-art piano keyboard lab to its already extensive collection of facilities supporting their internationally recognized Department of Fine Arts.
This lab will have enough stations to accommodate up to 16 students and a faculty member simultaneously. Each station will feature a Yamaha P125B digital piano working in tandem with the Yamaha LC4 Lab Controller.
According to Director of Fine Arts Dr. J. D. Frizzell, “This will transform the musicianship of our students, starting in the upper elementary all the way through high school. Combined with top-notch faculty and an innovative curriculum, the keyboard lab will enable us to continue to raise the bar for students in our award-winning vocal and instrumental music programs.”
The keyboard lab was made possible through the support of Clarice W. Cox and Briarcrest Arts, a parental support organization at Briarcrest. Cox funded the lab in honor of the Briarcrest music teachers.
The Department of Fine Arts at Briarcrest provides Christ-centered education in the areas of vocal music, instrumental music, theater, visual art and technical production. The focus on investing in students begins early in their arts education at Briarcrest, starting at the elementary level.
Each week, Briarcrest elementary students participate in music and art classes. Middle-school students expand their creativity by participating in the award-winning band, choir, art and drama program. By the time they enter high school, students have developed a broad range of skills and fundamentals allowing them to be successful in the arts.
