Bartlett’s blazing glory

Happy 238th, U.S.A!

Face painting in BartlettBartlett’s “Star Spangled Fireworks Extravaganza” lit up the city’s skies on July 3 and provided an evening of live music, family-friendly fun and a fireworks blast to mark the nation’s 238th birthday. All activities were on the lawn of the Bartlett Performing Arts & Conference Center and Appling Middle School. Attractions included a concert by the Bartlett Community Concert Band, music by Jamie Baker & the VIPs, a car display, games for children, face painting, and concessions.

TOP PHOTO: Looks like a sparkle for every dollar spent, doesn’t it! The city invested $18,000 in this year’s 20-minute fireworks show, the same amount that was spent in 2013. This is the last show of a three-year contract with vendor High Tech Special Effects.

PHOTO AT RIGHT: Sitting still to get one’s face painted can be difficult with all the surrounding festivities, but young Brayden is rock steady.
