Briarcrest Christian School senior Taylor Elliott of Bartlett was among the top honorees in FedEx Corporation’s student writing competition, taking third place. The event was part of the company’s 45th anniversary celebration.

In their essays, students were tasked with answering the question, “Where will transportation take us in the next 45 years?” Entries in grades 10-12 were evaluated on writing style, effectiveness and creativity. Judges were Dr. Melody Cunningham of LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, Christa Phillips of Houston High School and Parke Pepper, director of The Baddour Center.

An Aug. 1 ceremony at FedEx World Headquarters honored the award recipients. FedEx founder and CEO Frederick W. Smith delivered a special congratulatory message at the event.
